        Announcements:

        International Folk Dance,
        Saturday, November 23, will be at the
        Salvation Army Gym, again as usual. 7 to 10pm.
        For you advanced planners, we will have to dance somewhere
        else December 14th as there will be a wedding reception going
        on.  We'll dance somewhere, just don't know where yet.

        The next Contra Dance, at the Creston Grange Hall, will be
        Friday, December 6, 2002.
        The dance is at 8:00, with the beginners' workshop at 7:30.
        The cost is $6 each for adults, $3 each for teenagers (13-18),
        and kids 12 and under are free.
        The dance is put on by Contra Dance Flathead, and two numbers
        to call for more information are:  862-7098  and  857-2026.
        
        Learn to Clog: No partner needed, meet every Tuesday, upstairs
        Eagles Club. Beginning lessons start at 5:30. Contact Carla
        for more information 752-7919.

        Learn to do Western Line dance, meet every Thursday at the
        Sons of Norway, 6:30pm, $3.00.

        The Steam and Stomp 2003, will be Saturday noon to Sunday
        afternoon. February 22, 23. Boulder, Montana.


Once upon...A note from Sally:
"Speaking of belts, I learned this weekend that Briul (with a little hat or
roof over the i) means belt, so anything called "Briul de la ____" will
probably have a belt hold."

Since that note from Sally I've had the good fortune to meat Ann
Smreciu, from Edmonton.  She speaks Romanian and heads up a Romanian
Dance troop called Balada.

"Balada is an amateur dance company that performs Romanian Dance. We have
been in existence since 1973.  Most of the members are not Romanian however 
some of us have a small connection with that country (mine is through 
marriage).  I have been the Artistic Director and Choreographer since 1985 
(with a small break between 1994 and 1998).  The group has toured in 
Canada, the US and overseas and performed many times in Romania at 
festivals and competitions.  The group and myself individually has had 
several opportunities to study and work with top choreographers and 
instructors both in Romania and here in Canada."

Briul means belt but also means line!
Briul de la ____, is a line dance not necessarily a belt hold.
