They are eliminating the per person donation as of Mar. 1, and making a nightly rental fee of $50.... We may have to go back to some kind of pledge to make sure we have the money...." So, there we are. For some history, we used to dance at the Sons of Norway, in Kalispell, only once a month. The first year they let us have it for free. Then they charged us 25 dollars per hour. When we left and went to the Salvation Army, they had just raised the hourly fee to 35 dollars per hour. Danceing from 7-10 -3 hours- had cost us 75 dollars. We paid that by having a core group of 15 that would pay 5 dollars per month. Now to dance at the Salvation Army Gym once a week will cost us 200 dollars per month. :-( :-( Dancing only once a month was better than no dancing, but newcomers had a hard time learning a dance when they only could dance every 4 weeks. Dancing every week is the way to go, IMHO! The question is how shall we do it? Any sugestions??? We could could go plead our case to the powers that be in the Salvation Army.... We'll figure something out, I hope. The next Contra Dance, at the Creston Grange Hall, will be Friday, February 7, 2003. The dance is at 8:00, with the beginners' workshop at 7:30.
