Hi, Rosalind, Linda, Allison, Laurie, Cris, Ardyce, Larissa, Lita Margaret, Marilyn, Missy, Barbara, Cissy, Connie, Russ, Don & Rose, Jackie Z., John & Diana, Jon, Max & Eva, Hank & Mardia, Sally & Alan, Sam & Ruth, Sarah, Sue, Jackie V., Christie, Lauren, Richard & Susan, Cecelia, Tim, Brenda, Joe, Ed & Deanna, Michael & Susan, Sally D., Debbie F., Julie T. Dances from September 11, 2004 at the Salvation Army Gym, 7-10 PM. (close to the order we did them in) It was a small group this time as Russ, Missy, Marvin and Cris were at the Bear Hug. Larissa used the syllabus Cris provided to help me remember the dance Cris taught last week: 1 Heya Heay -Israel. Mission accomplished, -WITH OUT- the benefit of music! I then taught Larissa: 2 C^ekurjankino Horo -Bulgaria I've had problems with it in the past, so in teaching it got through the tuff parts, and now know it better. Then we did: 3 Kyustendilska Rac^enica -Bulgaria (Danses Folkloriques version) We've been working on it every week. Then did the 3 dances Larissa learned by watching the Romanian teacher Theodor Vasilescu's video of: 4 Arsul de la Calarasi -Romania, Oltenia (EHRSH-ool deh luh keh-leh-RUSH) 5 Purtata din Vistea -Romania, Transilvania - couple dance (poor-TUH-tuh deen VEESH-teah) 6 Pe Picior din Tinca -Romania, Transilvania. Actually only Larissa did this one (she had to go over the syllabus herself because she haden't danced it for awhile) About this time Lauren arrived then Lita then Jackie. 7 Kriva Kruska -Serbia 8 Pinosavka -Serbia 9 Trite Puti (AMAN 3) -Bulgaria -Taught the 4 variations I do and the 2 Russ does. Took about a half hour or more. Heya Heya again for Lita's benefit. Pinosavka -Serbia The requests: 10 Karamfil -Macedonia 11 Vrapc^eto (vrrahp-che-toe) -Bulgaria 12 Itele (EE-tseh-leh) -Romania 13 Ugros -Hungary 14 Birchot Havdalah -Israel 15 Rumelaj -Romanian Gypsy 16 Pomas^ko Sirto -Bulgaria 17 Arap -Macedonia 18 Nevesto Carven Trendafil -Pirin, Bulgaria 19 Kritikos Syrtos -Greek 20 Joc Batranesc din Niculetel -Dobrogea, Romania 21 Tropca de la Tulcea -Romania, Dobrogea 22 Lo Ahaovti Dai -Israel (Od Lo Ahaovti Dai) 23 Skudrinka -Macedonia (to the music of "Od Granka V Granka") Jackie wanted to know how old a dance Skudrinka was. Was it fifty years old, a hundred? Well, I don't know. I did say Skudrinka was usually done to the music Pembe Oro (PEM-bay oro) -Macedonia.(It has a dance all it's own, taught by Olga Sandolowich). So we put that on and danced Skudrink to Pembe Oro. Jackie liked the 1st music better. There was much more but there isn't enough room or desire to get into it here, hint: Skudrinka=Tango? I don't think so! 24 Tocul -Romania 25 Ravno Oro -Macedonia Trite Puti 26 Rustemul -Romania 27 Ratarsko Kolo--Serbia 28 Oseh Shaloam -Israel 29 Bekesi Paros -Hungarian couple dance Present: 1 Jackie Z 2 Larissa 3 Lauren 4 Lita 5 Roger Announcements: Saturday* International Folk Dance, September 11, 2004 at the Salvation Army Gym, 7 to 10pm. --------- The 1st Contra Dance of the season will be at the Sons of Norway.
