Kalispell International Folk Dancers











        Howdy Dancers,

        Kalispell International Folk Dancing resumes this Saturday, Jan. 14,
        from 7 to 10 p.m., at the Salvation Army gym, 110 Bountiful Drive.
        Come celebrate the MLK weekend and dance like it's gonna snow next week.

        The annual Wintergreen Contra Dance Weekend will be held Jan. 27-29 at

        The annual Steam & Stomp folk gathering at Boulder Hot Springs is
        Feb. 18 & 19. For those who missed it, see the end of this dance report.

        The annual International Folkdance at Boulder Hot Springs, the Steam and Stomp,
        is a folkdancing tradition that started twenty-nine years ago. It is an opportunity
        to dance, soak in the hot springs, and visit with folk dancers from across Montana.
        Dances will be taught by local teachers during the days and Saturday night will
        feature our folk dance party. Our teaching program and party will include easy to
        intermediate dances so don't hesitate to come even if you have not been folk
        dancing recently or at all.

        Schedule:
                Saturday February 18: 12 to 1 p.m.      - Registration
                1 to 5 p.m.                             - Dance workshop
                5 to 7:30 p.m.                          - Soaking and dinner
                7:30 to ?                               - Dance party,
                                                        with costume if you wish.

                Sunday February 19: 8:30-9:30 a.m.      - Breakfast
                10 a.m. to 1 p.m.                       - Dance workshop and review
                1 to 2 p.m.                             - Lunch
                2 to 3 p.m.                             - Dance workshop and review

        There is no cost for this event other than lodging and meals or a day use fee
        for the Hot Springs. Register directly with the hotel for meals and rooms (406-225-4339).
        On Saturday we will have an informal music session starting at 9:30 in the
        morning as we have in the past. Bring instruments and dance music, if you have them.
        For those staying Friday night at the Hot Springs, a buffet breakfast will be available
        for an additional charge of $12.00. You will need to make your own arrangements for
        Saturday lunch.

        Accommodations: Boulder Hot Springs can accommodate about 50 people with one to
        three people per room. Many rooms have private baths; others share a bathroom with
        a shower/tub at the end of the hall. Single rooms are $60 plus tax; double rooms
        per night with guaranteed full or half bath.
        Meals: Boulder Hot Springs will serve dinner, breakfast and lunch for us.
        In addition, they will provide drinks and fruit snacks during the dancing.
        All three meals cost $42 per adult; dinner only costs $16. Meals are half
        price for children under 12.

        What to Bring: Shoes for indoor use and bathing suit (for outdoor pool).
        No cooking, smoking, fire of any kind, firearms, alcohol or illegal drugs are allowed.
        Registration: Please try to register with Boulder Hot Springs by February
        11th so they can plan meals. Room and meal costs cannot be refunded after
        this date if you cancel. If you plan to spend the day only, there is a day
        use fee of $15.00 and you do not need to preregister except for meals,
        if you want them. If you are spending the night, use of the facility is
        included in the room price. Meal, day use, and room costs for children
        under 12 are half price. There is no charge for children under five.
        Please let Boulder Hot Springs know if you are sharing a room with someone
        who is not registering with you, or if you wish to share a room and need a
        roommate.
